Biography of Ying Ying
The Biography of Ying Ying, compiled by Yuan Zhen, is a legendary novel from the Tang dynasty. The original title was Legend. It was collected from the 488th volume of the Extensive Records of The Taiping Era, also known as the "Hui Zhen Records". The novel mainly revolves around the tragedy of the poor scholar, Zhang Sheng, and his rejection of the noble woman Cui Yingying. Through the varying images of Cui Yingying, the narration of the novel depicts characteristics of psychology. It is one of the most influential and popular legends of the Tang dynasty. Today, it is still adapted in to film, television, and in a variety of other mediums.
