Alex: Hi, Katia, how are you?
亚历克斯：嗨，卡蒂亚，你好吗?
Katia: I'm doing good and you Alex?
卡蒂亚：我很好，你呢，亚历克斯?
Alex: I'm doing good thank you. I have a question for you. Are you on Facebook?
亚历克斯：我也很好，谢谢。我想问你个问题，你有脸谱网账号吗?
Katia: Yes, I am in Facebook but I really do not check very often.
卡蒂亚：有，我用脸谱网，不过我不经常登录。
Alex: OK, how often do you check it usually?
亚历克斯：好，你通常多久登录一次?
Katia: I actually try not to check it very often. It's been taking a lot of my time so right now Icheck it about, I try once a week during the weekends.
卡蒂亚：我尽量不频繁登录。因为每次上脸谱网我都会花很多时间，所以我尽量一周浏览一次，通常是在周末。
Alex: OK. I used to be on Facebook a lot before. I was like checking it every day and, youknow, posting on my friends' walls and trying to catch up with everybody on Facebook. Butthen I realised that I was losing a lot of time on it. I was, I don't know if investing is the word,but I was spending a lot of time on it and I kind of like decided to close my wall, because Ithought that I was just spending too much time, and it was not really adding anything so, but Idon't know if that's the right thing, because sometimes I feel that I need to communicatestuff to my friends and since my wall has been closed for so long, I don't want to kind of likejust communicate something there and then just stopped communicating through my wallany more so I don't know how to do it.
亚历克斯：好。我以前经常用脸谱网。我几乎每天都要浏览脸谱网，在朋友们的留言板上评论，试图了解所有人在脸谱网上的动态。不过后来我意识到我在脸谱网上花费了太多时间。我不知道是不是应该用投资这个词，不过我在上面花费了太多时间，于是我决定关闭我的留言板，因为我认为我花费了太多时间，但是没有什么用，不过我不确定这样做是不是正确的，因为有时我感觉我需要和朋友们交流，不过我的留言板已经关闭了很长时间，我也不想在上面交流了，我不再通过留言板和人们交流，我不知道要怎么做。
Katia: It has really become an issue hasn't it? You can get lost from what is actually happeningaround you and live in a virtual world so I'm actually a little bit worried about that, about whatis happening and how we live our lives and how we present ourselves to others. I believe that itshould be handled differently than it has up to now so maybe you're doing good by closing or,you know, thinking about it at least.
卡蒂亚：这已经成为一个问题了，是吧?你可能因为周围发生的事情而迷失，而且你生活在一个虚拟世界里，所以我对现在的情况有些担心，我也对我们要如何生活、如何向他人表达自己感到担心。我认为应该用其他的方式来解决，而不是像现在这样，也许你关闭留言板的做法是正确的，至少你在考虑这件事。
Alex: Yeah.
亚历克斯：对。
Katia: But how much, that you might have to consider.
卡蒂亚：不过问题是要考虑的深度。
Alex: Yeah, that's right. It's very funny how all this communication has changed in the lastfew years. I remember just four years ago or even five years ago I wasn't on Facebook and allthe communication I used to have with my friends was through email or by phone or bymeeting you know. But now with Facebook everybody spends so much time on Facebook.Sometimes if you don't publish something on Facebook, it seems that you didn't do anything soI don't know it's just weird.
亚历克斯：对，没错。近几年交流方式的变化非常有意思。我记得四五年前，我还没有注册脸谱网账号，我和朋友之间通过电子邮件、电话或是见面来交流。但是现在有了脸谱网以后，所有人都会在脸谱网上花费大量时间。有时如果你不在脸谱网上更新动态，好像你就什么事都没做一样，我觉得这太奇怪了。
Katia: Well the question is are you actually more in communication now than you were four orfive years ago?
卡蒂亚：那现在你和其他人的交流比四五年前更多吗?
Alex: I am more in communication with people that I haven't been in touch with for thelast ten years let's say. Like all my friends from elementary school that I wasn't really in touchand everybody's now on Facebook and now everybody is updated on what I'm doing or why I dothis, what I'm going to do on next vacation, what about my plans for anything so that's a goodthing I think. It really depends on how much importance you give to it.
亚历克斯：我现在和过去10年没有联系的人交流的更多了。比如我的小学同学，之前我和他们没有联系，而现在所有人都用脸谱网，会在脸谱网上更新动态，告诉大家我在做什么，我为什么要做这件事，我下个假期打算做什么以及我的计划等，我认为这很好。其实这要看你有多重视。
Katia: That is true.
卡蒂亚：没错。
